Biography of Executive Producer & Screenwriter Jay Wolpert

Jay Wolpert at imdb.com

Born and raised in New York City, Jay Wolpert graduated from Queens College. Not counting the year he spent as a dental technician in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, Wolpert has had two full careers. The first as a television producer (The Price is Right Starring Bob Barker for the show’s first six years) and as a show creator (there have been at least a dozen Jay Wolpert shows seen in more than 15 countries). The second, from 1998 to the present, as a screenwriter for The Count of Monte Cristo and Pirates of The Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl.

A man of many varied interests, he is always up to something. He has won the Jeopardy Tournament of Champions, and been attacked by bandits in the Masai Mara region of Kenya. He was on the first ship to circumnavigate James Ross Island off the Antarctic Peninsula and also rides horseback—participating in the hundred-mile-long Desert Caballeros Ride for the last twenty-one years.

In addition, he is foolish enough to play softball every week. Coming off the Disabled List after recovering from arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage, he promptly dropped three foul balls and broke his finger catching a throw from third.

Above and beyond creating the screenplay adaptation for A Century of November, he is also an executive producer.
